Police say unlicensed driver tried to evade officers

Suspended driver and possession of a controlled substance

On January 6t 2017, officers from the Midland Police Service - Crime Unit, observed an unlicensed driver operating a vehicle in the east side of Midland.

The vehicle pulled into a driveway of a residence and the driver went into the rear yard of the home, attempting to evade officers.

The male driver was apprehended by police a short time later.

A subsequent search found that the driver had a suspended driver’s license and was in possession of a controlled substance.

The male driver was transported to the Midland Police Service after being arrested and held for a bail hearing as he was currently awaiting disposition on previous drug charges.

Charged:

Willard Marion – 46 years of age from Midland

Charges:

  1. Possession of a schedule III substance – s. 4(1) CDSA
  2. Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking – s. 5(2) CDSA
  3. Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – s. 354(1)(a) Crimina Code.
  4. Fail to comply with undertaking – s. 145(3) Criminal Code
  5. Driving while under suspension – s. 53(1) Highway Traffic Act
