Police say swerving driver refused to cooperate

A 40-year-old Barrie man has been charged with fail to provide a breath sample after being stopped by police on Ferndale Drive, south, in the City of Barrie early Friday morning.

The accused caught the attention of police after his vehicle had been observed swerving while traveling southbound on Ferndale Drive.

Upon stopping the vehicle the driver refused to cooperate with police which further led to a 90-day licence suspension and 7-day vehicle impoundment. The accused will appear in a Barrie court at the end of February.

Police are reminding motorist that just one drink can reduce your ability to react to things that happen suddenly while you are driving. Operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug or alcohol may result in criminal charges.

Failing or refusing to provide a drug or alcohol test carries the same penalties as over 80 and impaired charges including a: 90-day licence suspension, administrative monetary penalty and a 7-day vehicle impoundment.
