City police are asking the public for assistance in locating a possible witness to a motorcycle crash that happened early Sunday morning.

Officers with the Barrie police traffic unit are looking to speak to the driver of a white pickup truck, which was travelling on Hart Drive in the city’s south end on May 19 just before 1:41 a.m. Police believe they may have witnessed a “serious collision” involving a motorcycle, according to a post on X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday morning.

The operator of the motorcycle lost control on a curve on Hart Drive and struck a fence.

“He was transported to a local hospital and subsequently sent to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries,” Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday.

He added the white pickup truck was observed on video surveillance and the driver may have witnessed the collision or the events thereafter.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 705-725-7025, ext. 2584.
