Police investigating 'isolated' incident in downtown Bradford

South Simcoe police have now cleared the scene, but officers were in the area around Holland Street and Simcoe Road for most of Friday afternoon

UPDATE, March 1 at 5:30 p.m.: South Simcoe police have cleared the scene of an investigation near one of Bradford's busiest intersections.

The department had issued a public advisory about an increased police presence in the area of Holland Street and Simcoe Road, right in the heart of the municipality's downtown, early Friday afternoon. At that time, they also urged residents to avoid the area.

“Police are investigating an isolated incident,” spokesperson Sue Sgambati said. “There is believed to be no known threat to public safety.”

She said more details will be released “when possible" and the investigation is ongoing.

Photos from the scene show yellow police tape around a pickup truck and a section of sidewalk just south of the intersection.

BradfordToday will have more information related to this developing story as it becomes available.
