OPP officer faces assault charge

OPP officer charged

ORILLIA — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) has charged an OPP officer as a result of an investigation into an incident that occurred while the member was off duty.

As a result of the investigation, Provincial Constable Michael Gentle, who has been a member of the OPP since April 2006 and currently assigned to the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment, has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He has been suspended from duty with pay and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Orangeville on March 28, 2017.
