One teen dead, three hospitalized following crash in King

Police looking for anyone who witnessed black Infiniti G37 driving on King Road prior to collision Sunday morning

A 18-year-old Brampton woman was killed early Sunday morning when a car carrying six people crashed into a light pole in King Township. 

An 18-year-old male passenger, also from Brampton, was taken to hospital with what York Regional Police described as "critical injuries." He remains in hospital.

Two additional 19-year-old female passengers from the City of Welland and the City of St. Catharines were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An 18-year-old male passenger from the City of Brampton was treated for minor injuries.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from the City of Brampton, was not injured.

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following the deadly crash, which happened shortly before 7 a.m. on Feb. 18 at the intersection of King Road and 8th Concession.

When officers arrived, they found a black Infiniti G37 had struck a light pole.

Despite life-saving efforts of first-responders on scene, the 18-year-old female passenger was pronounced deceased.

"The investigation has revealed that the vehicle had been travelling west on King Road at a high rate of speed prior to the collision," police said in a news release. "Investigators are looking for anyone who witnessed the vehicle driving on King Road prior to the collision to come forward."

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, and to anyone who may have dash-cam footage or video surveillance of the area around the time of the collision, to come forward.
