Off-duty OPP officer charged with impaired

MIDLAND — On Friday, Mar. 3, 2017, at approximately 10:40 p.m., an officer from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 12 at a speed in excess of the posted speed limit.

The motor vehicle was stopped and driver, who exhibited signs of impairment was arrested.

As a result of the investigation that followed, an off duty member of the OPP has been charged with the following offences:

  • Drive while ability impaired
  • Driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in blood.

Provincial Constable Trent Bierworth, who is currently assigned to Central Region Headquarters and is a 14-year member of the OPP, is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Midland ‎on Thursday, Mar. 16, 2016.
