ESSA TOWNSHIP – The Nottawasaga OPP say they have arrested and charged a local man with several weapons related offences.
Police say the investigation began on March 22, when officers entered into a probe of threats being uttered in the area of Angus.
As a result, a male was arrested, and a loaded firearm and ammunition were seized, police said in a news release.
Shawn Donnelly, 50, of Essa Township, was charged with:
- Careless use of a firearm (carry/handle)
- Careless Storage of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Carry concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of possession of firearm
- Possession of loaded firearm
- Tampering with serial number of a firearm
- Resist Peace Officer
Donnelly was held for bail and remanded into custody, according to police.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Donnelly is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
