A scissor lift left unattended in a school parking lot with the keys in it became a dangerous toy for a couple of preteen Barrie Boys.
They came upon the lift in a south end parking lot at lunch time and were able to get it started and move it around before a passerby scared them off - with the keys.
The lads returned with the keys after dark for another spin but were located by police. The keys were recovered and the boys received a caution and their parents were notified.
Barrie Police are taking this opportunity to remind operators of construction equipment and any vehicle to take the time to secure your equipment and remove the keys when not in use to prevent theft and potential liability from its misuse.
