ESSA TOWNSHIP - On Feb. 15, 2017, at approximately 3:45 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report that students at Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School had received a Snapchat post that suggested to students to not attend school tomorrow (Feb. 16, 2017).

School staff immediately called police, who, after a thorough and detailed investigation that involved the Barrie Police Service (BPS) and the Southern Georgian Bay OPP were able to identify the youth in the Snapchat.

It was later determined that the individual responsible for the posting did not have the intent to carry out what was suggested in the post.

As a result of this investigation, the OPP believe there is no public safety concern in regards to this incident.
