Coroner's inquest called for superjail inmate who died in hospital

A coroner’s inquest will be held into the death of a former inmate at the superjail in Penetanguishene.

Central Region (Toronto East office) supervising coroner Dr. Jennifer M. Dmetrichuk has announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Dustin Clee.

According to a Ministry of the Solicitor General release, the 28-year-old man died at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto on Aug. 20, 2017, after being transferred from Central North Correctional Centre (CNCC).

An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Clee’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

Details regarding the date and location of the inquest will be provided at a later date.
