'Young child' struck by truck in southeast Barrie: police

Police on scene after a child was struck by a vehicle on Red Maple Lane in the city's southeast end on Thursday, May 23.

A "young child" was struck by a truck on Red Maple Lane in southeast Barrie this afternoon.

City police responded to the call, near Yonge Street and Mapleview Drive East, at 12:43 p.m. on May 23.

"Details are very limited at this time and it’s still very fluid," police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon tod BarrieToday.

"We have officers on scene, both traffic as well as front-line officers. We will provide some details where and when we can," he added.

BarrieToday will have more information as it becomes available.

Police say Red Maple Lane will be closed until further notice for the on-scene investigation involving the traffic and forensic units.
