BRADFORD - On Saturday, July 1, 2017, around 1:45 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were summoned to a Bradford bar for an (alleged) intoxicated man who would not leave.

The man became belligerent with the officers and was arrested due to his drunken state. Officers went to the man's home to see if an occupant could take care of him, but there was no answer at the door. The man was held at the police station to sober up.

Around 6 a.m., the arresting officer learned from the man that his two-year-old son was home alone. The child was located at the home and taken to hospital as a precaution. He was found to be in good health and turned over to the Children's Aid Society.

A 33-year-old Bradford man was held in custody for a bail hearing, charged with abandoning a child and fail to provide the necessities of life.
