Barrie Police seize a whack of crack

On Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, members of the Barrie Police Street Crime Unit arrested and charged two men with numerous drug offences.

Members of the Street Crime Unit had commenced an investigation in December of 2016 in regards to drug trafficking, and on Monday afternoon a vehicle was stopped by Street Crime just south of Barrie, in the town of Innisfil.

Investigators found the occupants of the vehicle to be in possession of 30 grams of cocaine, and fifty oxycodone pills, an estimated street value of $6,000. Investigators also seized the vehicle, which had been used to transport illicit drugs.

A 52-year-old Toronto man was charged with; possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, possession of a controlled substance – cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking – oxycodone, possession of a controlled substance – oxycodone and nine counts of driving disqualified.

A 21-year-old Toronto man was charged with; possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine and possession of a controlled substance- cocaine.

Further investigation led to the execution of a warrant on Tuesday, February 28, at the 52-year-old male’s Scarborough home, with the assistance of Toronto Police Service.

Barrie Police Street Crime Investigators seized 184 grams of crack cocaine, a street value of $18,400. Also seized was ½ kilogram of unknown white powder, which will be sent to the Center of Forensic Sciences.

Further charges are pending. Both men remain in custody pending a bail hearing.
