City police respond to a call with armed tactical officers arriving at a residence on Penetang Street in Barrie shortly before 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Police offered little in the way of details as to the reason for the call.
"It was an isolated incident that police responded to," Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday.
"It was very quickly determined with resources on scene, to be misinformation, and we're continuing to follow up in another manner," he added.
Leon said there was no threat to public safety.
"It was related to an earlier call from this morning," he added.
BarrieToday will have more information on this incident as it becomes available.
