Officers with Barrie Police Service's Tactical Support Unit can be seen walking past the department's armoured personnel vehicle during an incident on Loggers Run in the city's south end on April 3.

Residents of a south-end Barrie neighbourhood witnessed a large police presence Wednesday afternoon, including an armoured car and officers in tactical gear.

Officers from the Barrie Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Division, as well as Tactical Support Unit, were on Loggers Run — located just east of Essa Road — around noon today for what officials are calling an “ongoing Barrie police investigation,” which they noted was "isolated to that specific location."

“We will provide additional details where and when the investigation permits. It is an ongoing matter, ” said Peter Leon, the department’s communications coordinator. “There was no issue in regards to the safety of the community in respect to the work that was just carried out … and the presence we had there was what was required for the work that had to be carried out.”

No other details were made available.
