A Barrie man faces several charges, including attempted murder, after a victim suffered life-threatening injuries in a Wasaga Beach assault last month.

On Feb. 2, at approximately 10 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to an address on River Road East and located a male with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the victim was transported to a Toronto trauma centre and has since recovered.

Members of the Collingwood and Huronia West OPP crime units have now charged a second person in relation to the attempted murder investigation.

On March 8, 2023, Munthir Rashid Salim, 30, of Barrie, has been charged with attempted murder, two counts of forcible confinement, break and enter, and weapons dangerous.

The accused remains in custody following a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on Wednesday.
