Barrie man arrested in child pornography investigation

On Thursday, May 25, 2023, members of the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested a 43-year-old Barrie man following an online child pornography investigation.

In January of 2023, investigators received a tip concerning the distribution of child pornography within a website chat. The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant and the seizure of 11 computer devices for forensic analysis.

The accused has been charged with accessing child pornography, possession of child pornography, distributing child pornography and making child pornography. He was remanded into custody and will appear next at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on May 29, 2023.

The Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit is a partner within Ontario’s “Provincial Strategy” to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
