INNISFIL — On Friday, May 21, 2016, just before 2 a.m., a South Simcoe Police sergeant was patrolling Yonge Street in Innisfil.

He spotted a speeding van and was able to capture it on radar at more than 50 km/h over the posted limit.

When he stopped the van and spoke to the driver, he noted the smell of alcohol on the driver's breath. A roadside screening device test result of WARN was obtained.

The 26-year-old Ajax resident had his licence suspended for three days for the WARN result, and 7 days for the stunt offence.

The man was charged with speeding and stunt driving, and will appear in court in July. His van was impounded for 7 days.

During Road Safety Week, the South Simcoe Police have focused on aggressive, distracted and impaired drivers. We will continue to target these unsafe drivers year round. You can do you part in keeping your community safe by calling 9-1-1- to report unsafe driving.
