It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Brigitte (Hoffman) Voigtlander otherwise known as “Bird”. She was a beloved and devoted wife to James Voigtlander, her soul mate and earth angel. With a full house, Brigitte was a proud mother of Robyn Parnell (fiance Clayton), Amber Leal (husband Dan), Andrea Voigtlander, Laura Voigtlander, Bailey Parnell (fiance Hamza), and Kelsey Parnell. Nanny B will be missed dearly by her grandchildren Mackenzie, Evangeline, Charlie, Samuel, and Emily. And of course, she wouldn’t let us forget her cats, Phoenix and Skeeter. Born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, she was a cherished daughter of Edith (Lake) Hoffman and Brian Lunn (predeceased), and a loving sister to Michael Hoffman, Laura Lunn, and Christa Scheuer (husband Brian). She was fondly loved by her many in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, God-daughter Stephanie, cousins, and dear friends. Brigitte was a lifelong artisan whose baskets, ornaments, jewelry, and paintings adorn the homes and bodies of all her little women. Her beauty lives on, in part, through her art. Her greatest joys included time with her true love, James; chatting up a storm with her daughters, sisters, and aunts; adventuring to the Caribbean; dancing to her signature jams, crafting of any kind; gardening; and playing in the fairy garden with her grandchildren. There was always a seat and a meal for anyone at Brigitte’s table. No matter your walk of life, your hardships, your quirks, Brigitte’s greatest gift was allowing people to truly be their full selves (and celebrated for it). She restored many peoples’ faith in the goodness of humanity and the life-altering impact of love. In the end, Brigitte bravely fought a spirited battle with cancer and passed peacefully on February 7th of 2021 with her family by her side, in the home she built with James, looking out at her garden. If a person is measured by the impact they leave on this world, Brigitte is something special—a rare sort of wise energy and a gentle tide that lifts all [Bluenose] boats. She will be remembered with excitement, laughs, and admiration.

"We know it's difficult to get together right now. Since a few people have asked, if you'd like to make a donation in Brigitte's honour, she was proud to support the fight for human rights via Amnesty International Canada. We recommend going here: https://donate.amnesty.ca/page/37206/donate/1
