The family of Bert (Hubertus) Arnoldus Franciscus Van Der Heyden is saddened to announce his passing at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie on November 17th in his 87th year.
Reunited with his recently passed wife of 62 years, Sheila Ann (nee Hunter), Bert will be lovingly remembered by his sons: Marc, and Michael (Paloma); grandchildren: Justin (Krista), Alex, and James; great-grandson, Grayson; brothers Gus Heyden (Willie) of Barrie, and Frank Van Der Heyden (Barb) of Niagara Falls; predeceased brother Jack (Lisa) of Midhurst; predeceased sisters: Wilhelmina (Wilma) Barthel (Joseph) of Barrie, Francisca van der Heijden of Boxmeer, the Netherlands, Ann Holtzhauer (Harvey) of Orillia, and Christine Van Der Heyden (Will) of Barrie; sisters in-law Donna Holmes (John) of Orillia, and Debbie Caven (Tim) of Toronto; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Bert was predeceased by parents, Antoon and Francisca (nee van Gaal) van der Heijden of Barrie (immigrated from the Netherlands in 1951).
Friends may call at the Adams Funeral Home & Cremation Service (445 St Vincent St, Barrie, ON L4M 6T5) on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, from 11 until 1 p.m., with service being held from 1 p.m. (reception following).
