It is with profound sadness that the family announces the death of Bryan Underhill. Bryan died on August 1st, 2023, just under two months shy of his 95th birthday. Predeceased by his beloved Nancy (née Scoular) in 2000, and his sister Barbara Green (Raymond) in 1991, he is survived by his four children, Kathy Underhill (Ed Lessel, deceased), Carol Abram (Anthony), Blake Underhill, and Cheryl Underhill (Paul Battistuzzi). He is also survived by five grandchildren - Matthew Abram (Kari), Jason Abram (Katrina), Dylan Lessel, Courtney Lessel, and Alexa Battistuzzi, and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Taylor Abram.
Bryan was born and raised in Barrie, the son of W. Blake and Marjorie Underhill. He graduated as a Chartered Accountant in 1957, working first as a resident partner with the firm of Harris, Needham & Wright, then as a partner in Needham & Underhill. In 1979, as the result of a merger, he became a partner with Clarkson Gordon, and then with Ernst & Young Canada, following a subsequent merger in 1989. He retired as a partner from Ernst & Young in 1991.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses of the Respiratory Unit of the Royal Victoria Hospital for their attentiveness, warmth, and compassion in caring for our father in his final weeks. At Bryan's request, no service will be held. Donations in his memory can be made to the Royal Victoria Hospital; a place the Underhill family has supported for several generations
Dad was the ultimate family man, there was nothing more important to him than his family, and we could not have asked for a better Dad, Grandpa, or Branca. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, Dad - you've earned it.
