James Richard Tomkins
January 23, 1938 – December 13, 2022
Peacefully passed at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Barbara (née Suter). Loving father of Robert (Michelle), Owen and Andrew (Stephanie). Proud grandfather of Amanda and Kayla. Will be missed by many extended family members and dear friends.
Proving to have a strong will, James was a four-time cancer survivor. He loved his family dearly and was a true family-man. James was honoured to say that he was an employee of Bell Canada for 35 years and made many friendships and connections during his career. Volunteering was also very important to James as he was a devout Red Cross Meals on Wheels volunteer for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, travelling and meeting new people wherever he went. Quite a handy-man, James had great enjoyment from building and renovating houses and cottages.
Visitation will take place at the St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church, 161 Hanmer St. W., Barrie on Thursday, December 22nd, 2022 from 1 pm until the time of Service at 2 pm. Reception to follow inside the Church Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and are greatly appreciated by the family.
