Kathryn Mary Thompson (nee Vance) passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, Ontario on June 13, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Mary was a devoted wife and mother to her 7 children, grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, the late John Edward Thompson. 

Mary’s proudest achievement was her family. Cherished mother of Terri Vellinga (John), Dennis Thompson (Darlene), Patti Ann Paton-Adams (Trell), Yvonne Fox (Steve), Darryl Thompson (Janet), Paul Thompson (Myka), and Casey Thompson (Kristi).  Loving Nana to Christy, Leslie, Robyn, Laurie, Melanie, Matthew, Quinn, Kelly, Paul, Robert, Nicki, Christopher, Brandon, Kyanna, Katrine, Brooke, and Morgan.  Adored Great-Nana to Hudson, Emmett, Abigail, Madison, Annabelle, Ty, Blake, Ethan, Naomi, Jameson and Makenna.  

Her love of family extended to many nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Josephine and Frederick Vance and sister to the late Bernard Vance, Patricia Grant and Jo-Hanne Rumball.

The family would like to thank the staff of the I.O.O.F. Long Term Care Home for the wonderful and warm-hearted care for our mother for the past 8 years, as well as the staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care in her final days.

Friends may call at the Adams Funeral Home (445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie, Ontario) on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 5:00-8:00pm.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (65 Amelia St., Barrie, Ontario) on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 10:00am, followed by a luncheon at Adams Funeral Home. The interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery (8361 Yonge St., Thornhill, Ontario) following the luncheon for anyone wishing to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family through www.adamsfuneralhome.ca.
