Skylar Scott Sylvester, born in Midland on March the 7th of 1985 and raised on Christian Island - a place never far from his heart and mind - passed away in his 37th year, January the 19th of 2023.

An alumni of Western and Brock Universities, Skylar enjoyed a successful career in advertising and marketing. In his free time, he enjoyed contemplating existence and the nature of the universe in which he saw parallels to his own life and relationships. Skylar had a deep appreciation for the concept of multiple universes and fractals, seeing the infinite complexity and diversity of the universe reflected in the endlessly branching paths of his own life and the lives of those around him.

For Skylar, those close to him were fundamental particles populating this familiar region of that universe - unique and indivisible - yet bound in orbit by strong forces of love, friendship, and shared experience. His interests; sports (golf, volleyball, softball), the arts (music, film, visual), lawn care, and adventure of all kinds were quantum fields, mediating interaction between these particles.

Sienna, his daughter, was Skylar’s theory of everything. In a way Sienna’s birth was his Big Bang, the start of all that mattered in his world. His love for her grew as she blossomed into the independent, determined and curious daughter that she continues to be. Every night he would express just how deep his love was for her. His atoms and presence live on in her.

He will be deeply missed by his partner Natalie, mother Clare, father Tim, aunt Janice, uncle Dan, cousins Jon-Erik and Kylee, friend Brady, as well as a vast network of family, friends and colleagues. We can take solace in the fact that, just like the ideas he loved to explore, his impact and influence will continue to be felt in the countless connections and bonds he formed throughout his life. Rest in peace, Skylar.

A visitation will take place at Adams Funeral Home (445 St. Vincent St., Barrie, ON) on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 12 pm to 1 pm followed by a Memorial Service and reception.
