Seal, Michael John

April 11, 1976- May 19, 2022

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our son Michael John Seal at AgeCare Skypointe Hospice in Calgary, AB on Thursday, May 19th at the age of 46 with his family by his side.

Beloved son of John and Marilyn Seal (Barrie), brother of Andrew and Jamie (Barrie) and Scott and Kelsi (Ottawa). He will be remembered with love and laughter by his nephews and nieces; Owen, Carolyn, Kristen and Garrett Seal, James and Avery Orwin, his aunts, cousins and uncles (pre-deceased). He will be met with open arms by his beloved Grandma Nellie (Seal) and dog kisses from Chase and other family members.

Michael's love of the outdoors began during his childhood growing up in Hillsdale, ON and his love of running continued when he was part of the cross country running team at Midland Secondary School. He worked at Molson's Brewery in Barrie during his university years, Fairmont/Delta Hotels in Alberta, University of Calgary, Garmin and Trace Associates Calgary.

He will be sadly missed by his wonderful close circle of friends with whom he enjoyed many outdoor mountain adventures - running, biking, skiing, hiking and snowshoeing. Michael had a passion for running. He participated in many marathons and he was beyond excited to qualify and participate in the Boston Marathon twice. He enjoyed many hours cheering on his favourite baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays.

We would like to give a special thank you to his cousins Jeff and Lanna Seal (Calgary), his colleagues at Trace Associates (Calgary) and Garmin Canada Inc (Cochrane). Also to the staff at Tommy Baker Cancer Centre, Foothills Medical Centre and AgeCare Skypointe Hospice for all of their support and care over the last few weeks.

At Michael's request cremation has taken place. A celebration of life and interment will occur at a later date in Barrie, ON. Michael had a big heart and contributed to many different charities, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an organization of your choosing.
