February 5, 1944 – November 18, 2022

Passed away peacefully at home with family by his side after a short battle with cancer.  He grew up in Wyebridge Ontario, son of the late Earl and Hazel Preston.  Devoted husband of Jo-Ann (née Hutchison) for 54 years.  Loving father of Brent (Jill), Andrew (Debbie) and Karla.  Proud grandad of Ethan and Cayden.  He will be missed by many extended family members and friends.

Lloyd graduated from the University of Western Ontario and Teacher’s College, which lead to a meaningful 33-year career in education.  He was well known by staff and students at Barrie Central, Eastview, Stayner Collegiate, Barrie North, Nantyr Shores and the Adult Education Centre as a Teacher, Vice-Principal and Principal.  He maintained a strong connection to his community through membership in various service groups and organizations as well as through his music, volunteering to play at various locations throughout Simcoe County and beyond.

In retirement he expanded his passion for teaching by sharing his love of old time fiddle music with many friends, young and old.  He continued his family tradition for farming by growing many vegetables and flowers that he generously gifted to neighbours, friends and family.

When Lloyd learned of his prognosis, his wish was to return home where he could rest in comfort in a more familiar environment that was more accessible to friends and family.  This wish was supported by Dr. Monnin and the staff from Bayshore Healthcare.  Our family is forever grateful to them and the staff at RVH that took great care of him during the last months of his life.

Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home (445 St. Vincent Street) on Sunday November 27th from 3 to 6 pm. A small private service will be held for Lloyd’s Family, with plans for a larger celebration of life to be held in the New Year.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice to honour Lloyd’s memory would be appreciated by the family.

Messages of condolence can be forwarded to the family through adamsfuneralhome.ca.
