It is with great sadness we announce the loss of Derek Neal -- a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, family member, and friend. Derek passed away suddenly at home on June 8, 2017 at the age of 50. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Leyla and her mother Misleidy (Derek's former spouse), parents Wayne and Diane, brothers David (Karen) and Dwight (Jennifer), nieces Jazmin, Taylor, and Meagan, and nephew Jacob, as well as many other extended Neal and Goodwin family members. Derek faced more than his share of life challenges and we take some comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain and is now in paradise. RIP Derek, you will always be loved.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie, on Thursday, June 15 from 7-9 pm and on Friday June 16 from 10 am until the time we celebrate Derek’s life in the Chapel at 11 am. Following the service, guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon in the Lounge. As a tribute to Derek, please dress informally and come prepared to share a memory. In lieu of flowers, donations to Spinal Cord Injury Ontario are appreciated.
