April 12, 1944 – April 6, 2024

Passed away suddenly on April 6, 2024, at the age of 79 years.  Daughter of the late John and Margaret MacCormack.  Loving mother of Lisa (Victor), and Greg (Syla).  Proud Gramma Betty to Baylie, Abby, Jack, Maya, and Joshua who were the lights of her life.  Sister of Mary Margaret (Al), Elaine (Matt, deceased), Joan (Dan), Paul (Linda), and Monica.  She will also be dearly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Betty was pre-deceased by "PapaDon”.

Betty was a proud alumna of Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, graduating in 1965.  Her lifelong commitment to education began in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, but the bulk of her career was spent teaching in Barrie, Ontario at St. John Vianney and St. Mary’s Schools.  Her passion for helping others extended beyond the classroom through her years of involvement in the school breakfast club, volunteering with Telecare, Meals on Wheels and the Barrie Blood Bank.

Among her joys in life, Betty looked forward to online bridge sessions through the Barrie Bridge Club several times a week and relished Friday night dinners with her close friends.  Anyone who knew her knew of her love of chocolate, fudge and most recently, Tim Horton’s iced capps.

A funeral mass followed by a reception in the church hall will take place at St. John Vianney Parish in Barrie on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

Memories and condolences can be shared online at www.peacefultransition.ca.

In honour of Betty's memory, the family kindly requests that those fortunate to still have their mothers with them share an ice capp in her memory, a gesture that reflects her love for simple pleasures and cherished moments with loved ones.
