The family of JUDY LUCKETT of Toronto is saddened to announce her peaceful passing on November 17, 2022. Lee and Judy were able to be constantly at her side over the last days of her life.

She will be lovingly remembered by all of us – Steve (Jan) Luckett, Lee (Al) McDonald, Judy (Mike) Salnek, and Maryann (Carol) Billingsley- Luckett. Her grandchildren Stephen (Cindy), Mark (Catherine), David (Victoria) and Mathew (Sylvie) Luckett: Kathleen, Chris (Catherine) and Paul (Sandra) McDonald; Jacquelyn, Laura (Brandon), Suzanne (Brandyn) and Katherine (Jason); Buddha and Gabriel Billingsley-Lucket; and 19 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

She was predeceased by the love of her life Hubert (Bert) William Luckett of 64 years and their sons, Hubert (baby Bert) and Joseph.  Mom enjoyed a large family and many friends who for the most part have passed. Our hope and belief is she is enjoying their company now! We are sure they were waiting for her with open arms standing beside our God and loving Father and Mother Mary whom she loved so fervently.

To talk about her, we have to talk about mom and dad as a unit.  To the best of their ability, they honoured the First Commandment (loving God with all their heart, soul, strength and mind). They modeled a beautiful and holy marriage for all of us to see.  They loved each other selflessly and sacrificially. She did her best to live and share her faith with all of us, knowing full well that she did so imperfectly but whole heartedly.

Mom, as we all know, was a loving, yet feisty, and strong-willed mother. Her large family meant so much to her and Sunday night dinners were regular and eventful! She loved golf and playing bridge, both of which kept her sharp for many years.  Mom and dad enjoyed these passions together for many years.
Her last 3 years at Grove Park Home in Barrie were very special ones. They showed her more love and kindness than one could imagine. It was unconditional love–may we all learn to live in this love. They treated mom with so much of this that she softened and was transformed into the grateful, loving person that the family experienced in her final years. She would often say that she was trying to be a nicer person and she was very contrite and regretful if she wasn’t.  In the end, she was forever thanking all who were caring for her–both her family–near and far–and Grove Park staff. Grove Park was a true gift! We will be forever indebted to them and all their staff.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Grove Park Home (a Not for Profit, Christian Charitable organization) would be most appreciated so that they can continue their great work. You may donate through the following link: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/51921?v1=true And most importantly, mom would ask for your prayers and Mass Cards. We love you mom and we are all grateful for you!

Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 65 Amelia Street, Barrie, followed by lunch in the parish hall.
