Our Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Anna Kristine King, lovingly known as Kris, passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital on Friday, May 17th, 2024, at the age of 73. Born in Huntsville on August 27th, 1950, Kris embodied strength and kindness throughout her journey.
As a devoted single mother, Kris dedicated herself to raising her beloved son, Blair King. The warmth of her family grew when she welcomed her daughter-in-law, Lesley, into their lives in 1996. Embraced by Lesley's parents, Robert and Marion Mayes, Kris extended her circle of loved ones, finding a cherished place within their family. Later, Kris found immense pride and joy in her role as a grandmother to her beloved grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan, and Davis.
In 2002, after a distinguished career, Kris retired from Bell Canada, stepping into a new chapter filled with adventures and cherished memories, where she endeavored to stay connected with friends and colleagues.
Kris was the final member of her immediate family to bid farewell, preceded in death by her four brothers, Lance, Peter, Robert, and Frank King, and her mother, Sadie Opsahl (nee: Gibb, King). Despite enduring such profound loss, Kris continued to embrace life with a spirited zest, enjoying hobbies like gardening, reading, and sharing her witty sense of humor.
In her later years, Kris faced various health challenges with remarkable courage and perseverance. Her strength and determination remained evident until her peaceful passing.
A celebration of Kris’s life will take place at a later date with a family gathering to honor her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
