Peacefully passed at the Bob Rumball Home For the Deaf on Friday, November 23rd, 2018 at the age of 87.

Loving wife of the late Harold Hook and former wife of the late William “Bud” Martin. Beloved mother of Michael Martin and the late Dan Martin (Nina). Dear stepmother to David Hook (Gail), Ray Hook (Elaine) and Gary Hook (Charmaine). Loving grandmother of Michael, Katherine, Tawnya, Allison, Natalie, Mike, Andrea, Elisa, Caroline and Nicholas. Proud great grandmother of thirteen adoring children. Loving sister of Art and the late Alvin, George, Gwen and Marion.

Edith made friends wherever she went and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Edith graduated from the RVH School of Nursing in 1952 and worked as a registered nurse for the majority of her life, including a relief mission overseas. She truly enjoyed caring for and helping others. Her hard work paid off after meeting Harold, a patient at the hospital, who whisked her away to travel the world during their time together.

Upon retirement, Edith focused her passion for caring for others on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Guests to be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street,. Barrie on Thursday, November 29th, 2018 for a memorial service inside the chapel at 2 pm. Reception to follow in the lower lounge of the Funeral Home.

Edith’s family would like to thank the entire staff at both the Waterford Retirement Home and the Bob Rumball Home for the excellent care and compassion throughout her stay there. Donations in Edith’s memory may be made to the COPE Association and are greatly appreciated by the family.
