Shirley Jacqueline Hansen, age 88, formerly of Stratford, London and Barrie passed away peacefully at Temiskaming Shores on March 29, 2024. Born in Stratford, July 16, 1935, daughter of the late Clarence and Nellie Roth.
Beloved wife of the late Carl Hansen who predeceased her in 1999. She is survived by her husband William Wilson of Anten Mills. Loving mother of Brad (Lorraine), Pam Kelly (Cosimo) and Marcia Klimov (Ivan). Grandmother of Tyler (Jessica), Alicia, Katelin (Dan), Alexander, Ryan (Mandy) and Aiden. Great grandmother of Maverick, Jayce, Stella, Mackenzie, Rowen. Sister of Bill Roth (Joan), Gail Seigner. Lovingly remembered by the Hansen family and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother-in-law Dave Seigner.
Shirley had a passion for Girl Guides and the Trephol Guild. She as a volunteer in London in 1970 and was leader until becoming Pinewood District Commissioner in Barrie until retiring from Girl Guides and becoming a member of the Trephol Guild in 2011. She worked as secretary of Westside Lutheran Church, Barrie and with the Ministry of National Resources. Shirley was helpful, caring, outgoing and outdoorsy.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, April 3, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Zion Lutheran Church, 202 Erie Street, Stratford on Thursday, April 4, at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow.
