Thomas Edwin (Ed) Donnelly, in his 79th year, passed away at Simcoe Hospice on August 1, 2022 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Ed was born in Barrie, Ontario, on February 15, 1943, to Thomas William Donnelly and Eva Lorraine (Mason) Donnelly.
Ed is survived by his wife, Annie Warner Donnelly; sons Gary Todd Gore and Thomas Gregory (Greg) Gore (Genevieve); grandsons Marcus Philippe Gore and Jacob Robert Gore; brother Gerald Kenneth Donnelly (Joan); aunt Iva Barnard and many cousins.
During his lifetime, after a career in Real Estate, Ed provided Handyman and Contracting Services. He was an avid golfer at the Tangle Creek Golf Course. He wrote many songs as he loved to entertain others as he played his guitar or the piano and sang.
A visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie, from 1-5 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2022. His Celebration of Life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 1pm. Following the service interment will take place at Grenfel Cemetery, 1980 Sunnidale Rd., Grenfell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the churches where Ed actively served, as he was able, until his passing: the Barrie Seventh-day Adventist Church; the Bracebridge Seventh-day Adventist Church; the Lakeview Seventh-day Adventist Church; and the Parry Sound Seventh-day Adventist Church.
In lieu of a reception, the family will make a donation to Hospice Simcoe, and invites others to support this amazing opportunity we all have for superior mental, emotional, physical and spiritual care at a time when we need it most.
