Passed away peacefully at home on January 26th, 2022, with his family by his side.  Ted is survived by his beloved wife Betty (Elizabeth) of 68 years.  Loving and proud father of Gail (Rick) Joyes, Chris (Maxine), and Ian (Kathy).  Ted was a very loving Papa to 7 grandchildren, Shawn, Allison, Ian, Cheryl, Scott, Kyle, Drew, and Great Papa to 11 great grandchildren. Ted was the definition of what a husband, father and Papa should be.  Betty and Ted were married at St. Mary’s Church in 1953.  They had a love like no other, and many years later Ted expressed, “I wish I could start all over again with her.”

Ted worked at General Electric for 32 years and Radio Shack for 6 years.  In his lifetime, Ted was a member of the Barrie Auxiliary Police, and a volunteer firefighter in the Vespra Fire Department.  He was involved in the establishment of the Simcoe Rescue Squad.  Ted and Betty faithfully attended St. Mary’s Church in Barrie.

Ted was an avid golfer, and it was the game he loved to play.  He was a member of Shanty Bay Golf Course for 40 years.  In 2018, Ted was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Woodbrook Golf Club in Lakeland Florida. He was described as, “A person who over his lifetime has demonstrated a passion for the game of golf.  A person who exemplifies friendliness and good character on the course.”

Ted really enjoyed spending time with friends both in Barrie and at Woodbrook Estates (27 years) in Lakeland, Florida.

A quote from Ted which sums up so much, “When we get together with our family, it is always a happy time.  I come away with a nice, happy feeling, and a lot of laughs.”

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.   It is requested that any memorial donations please be made to Hospice Simcoe.
