Ian D. Caunce F.R.I., CMR
A very special man was lost to us on August 10, 2022. Ian passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie at the age of 93.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Gwendolyn (nee Macfarlane) 2004 and daughter Carolynn Southorn (nee Caunce) 2007, survived and loved by his daughter Patricia Anderson (Paul-D). Cherished grandfather to his three exceptional grandchildren; Christopher, Jason, and Jessica. Dear brother of Stuart Caunce and predeceased by his sister June Caunce. Lovingly remembered by his nephews and nieces and many friends, including companion Marie Bell.
Ian emigrated from Scotland in 1953 and after other employment, entered the Real Estate Brokerage business in 1954. During his long career in the profession, Ian was involved in organized Real Estate serving in many capacities including President of the Barrie Real Estate Board, Director of the Canadian Real Estate Association, and Governor (President) of the Real Estate Institute of Canada.
Ian was a long-time volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society and supporter of the Alzheimer Society.
As per Ian’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Scotland.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ian’s memory to the Alzheimer Society or the Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
