Philip John (Jack) Blackman, 84, passed away Monday May 29 2017 as a result of heart disease, surrounded by family.

Jack had a vibrant faith in the gospel and the Saviour it proclaims. If you asked him, it wasn’t so  much that he found Christ, but that Christ found him.

His faith rolled on deeply in the lives of his children and grandchildren. For this he claims more joy than credit.

He leaves his wife of almost 60 years Katherine Elizabeth (Shields) Blackman; his son Philip (Pamela) Blackman; his daughter Nancy (Darryl) Crocker; his son John (Janine) Blackman;  his 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Jack , the son of Leland and Olive Blackman, was raised in Bloomfield Ontario. He left the farm at a young age to attend agricultural college. He then moved to Sudbury where he worked at Inco for 7 years. After several jobs and several moves he settled in Barrie working at Mansfield Tire (General Tire) as a second class stationary engineer. He loved to read, garden, go for long walks and work on projects with his tools.

A favorite Psalm  though there were many is Psalm 18:30-33

“God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? God arms we with strength,  and he makes my way perfect. He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights. ”

Visitation will be held at ADAMS FUNERAL HOME 445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 6-9 p.m. Celebration of Life will be held at EMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH 374 Salem, Barrie Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with visitation from 1 p.m.
