Bernice Isabelle Betteridge

November 22, 1939 — July 11, 2023

Bernice Isabelle Betteridge nee Hogg November 22, 1939 passed into the arms of Her Lord on July 11, 2023 at age 83 after a long battle with Lung & Heart disease.

Bernice was born in Strathclair Manitoba the youngest of 12 children. As as child she enjoyed farm life with many animals, her favorite was a gray horse.

Travelling to school was an adventure as transportation was in a horse drawn school van which in winter had sleigh runners. The wagon was heated with a pot-bellied stove. The wagon did tip a few times, now that was an experience.  The family was very close with all the siblings helping to raise each other which created memories that Mom spoke of often.

Upon graduation Bernice went to college in Brandon Manitoba for office Admin when she met the man of her dreams, Art Betteridge who was in the Air Force stationed in Rivers Manitoba.  They were introduced by mutual friends. A year later Art and Bernice were married in September 10, 1960 in Rivers Manitoba. It was a large joyous occasion.

Bernice then set on world adventures when Art was stationed in Zweibrucken Germany aka 3 Wing. She visited many counties and enjoyed visiting castles.

Bernice had two children, Lori and Linda. They returned to Canada after Linda was born and lived in Manitoba, Quebec, BC and settled in Ontario.

Bernice loved to bake, garden, sew and knit. Her gardens were stunning and she won many awards for her beautiful flowers. Wedding parties would often ask to use her flowers as a backdrop for their pictures.

She loved her family and grandchildren very much.  She is survived by her Husband of 62 years, Art Betteridge, Mother to Lori (Scott) & Linda (Lawrence). Loving G-Mom to Kristi, Travis, Colton, Alex & Nicholas.

She is now reunited with all her siblings and her Grandchild Angela.

We will miss her very much but know her life well lived translates in life everlasting. Sleep well till we are reunited again.

Bernice’s service is at St Mary’s Cemetery 208 Sunnidale Road, Barrie, Ontario on Tuesday July 18, 2023 at 2pm. Section 2, Niche D, Level 4, Columbarium E. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (https://www.heartandstroke.ca) would be greatly appreciated.
