It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of May Belanger – beloved mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She passed away peacefully at Barrie Manor in Barrie, Ontario on Friday, March 29th, 2024.  She was born in Burnley, England, on May 18, 1935.

Beloved wife of the late Raymond Francis Belanger, she dedicated her days to nurturing her family and creating a warm and loving home for her sons, John and Richard.  Her legacy lives on through her 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life.

In her final days, May found comfort in the care provided by the staff at Barrie Manor.  The family would like to take this opportunity to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate individuals who made her feel cherished and at peace while at Barrie Manor, and at Whispering Pines where she had resided previously.

Though May’s loss is deeply felt by her family, at the same time they celebrate a life well-lived and a soul that touched so many others.  May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place, with arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie.  A memorial service and celebration of life gathering at St. John Vianney Parish will be announced shortly.

If desired, donations in May’s memory may be made to the RVH Cancer Care Centre and are greatly appreciated by the family.
