1938-2023

Donna passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge on June 30th, 2023.

Beloved and devoted wife of Kenneth for 65 years. Adored mother of Catharine (John) and Donald (Suzanne). Loving grandmother to Michael Antoszek, Milton, and Grace Baxter.

Born in 1938 to Donald Douglass and his wife Helen (Lint) of Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Donna grew up in Toronto’s Lytton Park neighbourhood. Her father Donald Douglass was the Deputy Minister of Mines for Ontario. Donna and her family enjoyed many summers at the cottage built by her father in Keswick, Ontario.

Donna met Ken at Clevelands House on Lake Rosseau while she was enjoying a summer holiday and Ken was working there. She had found her soulmate for life. The two were wed at St. Margaret's church in Toronto on August 29th, 1959. Ken and Donna would move to Bracebridge shortly after the birth of their first daughter Catharine and made many lifelong friends. Donna and Ken's favourite place to be at was their cottage on Lake Muskoka, their summer retreat for 60 years. Donna enjoyed travelling to many places around the world including Barbados, where they had very dear friends.

Donna was a dedicated volunteer at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, caring for patients in palliative care and in patients’ homes. As well she lent a great deal of time to Out of the Cold and Meals on Wheels and helped to walk the dogs at the animal shelter.

Donna will be remembered as a deeply kind and caring woman by all her knew her. Her memory is a testament to the eternal value of kindness and compassion which we may all strive to embody.

Special thanks to the staff at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital for their excellent care.

Donations in Donna’s memory to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
