OHL roundup: Wright ignites Spitfires in beating Knights 4-1

LONDON, Ont. — Shane Wright is wasting no time making new friends and racking up points with the Windsor Spitfires.

The captain of Canada's gold-medal winning team at the recent world junior hockey championship, dealt to the Spitfires from the Kingston Frontenacs after the world tourney, scored twice and added an assist as the Spitfires defeated the London Knights 4-1 in Ontario Hockey League action on Sunday.

Matthew Maggio and Brett Harrison also scored for the West Division-leading Spitfires (27-9-3-1).

Ryan Winterton scored for the Midwest Division-leading Knights (26-12-1-0).

SUDBURY, Ont. — The visiting Soo Greyhounds outlasted the Sudbury Wolves 3-2 in a shootout.

Brenden Sirizzotti and Caeden Carlisle scored in regulation time for the Greyhounds (14-16-7-4), who outscored the Wolves 2-1 in the three-round shootout.

Nolan Collins and Marc Boudreau scored for the Wolves (15-18-3-3).

SAGINAW, Mich. — Reid Valade scored twice and Hunter Brzustewick added two assists as the visiting Kitchener Rangers defeated the Saginaw Spirit 4-3.

Danny Zhilkin and Mitchell Martin also scored for the Rangers (16-18-2-0), who were outshot 37-36.

Hunter Haight, Matyas Sapovaliv and Zayne Parekh scored for the Spirit (24-14-2-0).
