Young man accused of driving ATV over pedestrian

On June 4, 2016 around 11:20 p.m.  South Simcoe Police were called to Killarney Beach Rd for a pedestrian struck motor vehicle collision.  

A male had been driving an ATV back and forth along Killarney Beach Road at a high rate of speed without headlights.  The driver of the ATV was confronted by area residents. Words were exchanged and  the driver of the ATV took off striking a female in the leg.  

He sped away turned the ATV around and  drove at the group of people. The driver of the ATV ran over one of the pedestrians.  

The group of people subdued the driver and held him until police arrived.

The driver a 23-year-old male from Belle Ewart was taken to the station.  He was charged with impaired driving, drive over 80 mgs and dangerous driving.  He was released on a promise to appear.  

The victim, a 21-year-old male  from Lefroy, sustained injuries to his back and leg.
