Waterfront business inspired to make paw-sitive change

Splash On Waterpark in Barrie donating $2,000 to support Finding Them Homes Dog Rescue

It’s the dog days of summer, and Splash On Waterpark aimed to do a little good for needy pups this week.

Weather didn't put a damper on the fundraising event for Finding Them Homes Dog Rescue on Wednesday, with the proceeds from admission to the waterpark for the day being donated to the animal rescue.

As a result, business owner Brittany Gallagher is donating $2,000 to the cause, and adoption paperwork was filled out for many of the animals.

"(The money) is actually more than we made, but I believe strongly in what Finding Them Homes is doing," says Gallagher.

Some of the dogs were in attendance at the park throughout the evening. Splash On also accepted donations of puppy food, six-foot leashes and small dog beds, collecting two full bins of donations for the dogs.

Finding Them Homes’ mission is to help communities along Ontario’s James Bay coast and other remote locations to reduce the over-population of dogs by finding forever homes for them, running spay/neuter clinics in the communities, and providing donated food and supplies.
