On Monday, December 28, 2015 shortly after 1:30 p.m., police were called to Bayfield Convenience located at 102 Bayfield Street, in the city of Barrie, in regards to a theft of sunglasses valued at $12.99.
The police viewed video which led them to locating the accused youth still in the plaza with the sunglasses still on him.
The 15-year-old Barrie male was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Stolen Property and was held for a bail hearing due to previous outstanding charges for the same offences.
During the investigation a 17-year-old Barrie female began stepping in, interfering with Police as they were speaking to the accused male.
She was asked repeatedly to move away and to refrain from interfering but became irate, spitting on the windshield of the police cruiser.
She then became assaultive with police, kicking one officer in the knee and spitting in his face.
The female was charged with Assault Police and Mischief.
The Police Officer attended Royal Victoria Regional Health Center for minor treatment in relation to the event.
The female was transported to the Barrie Police Service where she was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in the New Year.
