RIDE check leads to drug charges (update)

TAY TOWNSHIP – On March 4, 2016 at 9:55 p.m. officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a R.I.D.E (reduce impaired driving everywhere) check on Triple Bay Road in Tay Township.

A Black Ford motor vehicle entered the R.I.D.E check and an officer had conversation with the female driver.

A further investigation was conducted at which time an officer located a small quantity of suspected marijuana in the vehicle.

The female driver, Nadine Woods (age 38) of Tay Township, ON is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule II substance-Cannabis Marijuana-under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act  (CDSA)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on April 7, 2016 in Midland, ON.

TINY TOWNSHIP – On March 4, 2016 at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Central Region Traffic Unit were conducting a R.I.D.E (reduce impaired driving everywhere) check at Cross land Road and Concession 4 in Tiny Township.

A motor vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. check in a suspicious manner.

While conducting their investigation, police found a small quantity of suspected marijuana in the vehicle.

The male driver identified as Stephen Beaton (age 55) of Laurentian Valley Township, ON has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule II substance-Cannabis Marijuana-under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on April 14, 2016 in Midland, ON.
