On Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at 2:15 p.m., Barrie Police were called to 35 Mapleview Drive West, in the City of Barrie, after two pedestrians were struck at the rear of Walmart.

Two males were working at the rear drive of the building raking and blowing leaves when a dark coloured vehicle approached the pylons blocking the area making no attempt to slow down or maneuver around.

The first male saw the vehicle approach and swiftly moved out of the way, however the vehicle ran over his foot.

The second male was wearing ear protectors and blowing leaves and did not hear or see the vehicle approaching.

He was struck from the side and hit the hood and windshield of the car before rolling off.

He sustained serious but not life threatening injuries.

Both males were taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for assessment and injuries are still undetermined at this time.

The vehicle is believed to be a dark coloured car, possibly a Dodge Neon, with a single male driver.

Visible damage to the passenger side hood and windshield should be evident.

A possible partial licence plate for the vehicle may be BNYN.

Barrie Police are continuing their investigation at this time and anyone with information is asked to contact PC D Bosch at 705-725-7025 or [email protected].

Any information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online at www.tipsubmit.com.
