Mark your calendars.

The Barrie Public Library (BPL) is excited to announce that the Local Author Book Market will return on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year the market will take place at BPL’s Painswick location at 48 Dean Ave.

“We have a strong community of local authors in Barrie, and we are happy to support them as a library,” says Chantale Boileau, program and outreach librarian. “Last year was our first Local Author Book Market and it was really successful with 27 authors and over 200 in attendance. This year we have 40 authors joining us, so we’re excited to see the growth.”

Spanning genres such as non-fiction, true crime, fantasy, poetry, youth and teen books, 40 local authors will be on hand at Painswick to sell and sign their books.

“Last year’s book market was a fantastic day and one of my favourite book events of the year,” says local author Colleen Winter. “This year’s event promises to be even bigger and I’m looking forward to meeting more local authors, discovering their books, and enjoying the company of other book lovers. It’s an absolutely great way to spend a day.”

The market is also an opportunity for local authors to connect with peers and meet with Editors Barrie to learn more about how to get their book in the hands of readers.
