Colleagues at the town are launching a GoFundMe account by the end of the week, to help the employee's wife with the extra expenses such as hospital parking.
"An incident like this can be very traumatic for everyone," said Innisfil deputy mayor Lynn Dollin.
"Our senior staff is making sure that all employees are aware of the resources available to help them deal with the stress."
The Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating the circumstances of the injury and the employee’s name is being withheld.
