Town employees are launching a GoFundMe account to help is family

An Innisfil employee seriously injured on the job at the municipal works garage last week is improving in a Toronto hospital.

The man who suffered critical head injuries was taken by ambulance to the trauma centre at St. Michael's Hospital a week ago was released from the Intensive Care Unit today.

Colleagues at the town are launching a GoFundMe account by the end of the week, to help the employee's wife with the extra expenses such as hospital parking.

"An incident like this can be very traumatic for everyone," said Innisfil deputy mayor Lynn Dollin. 

"Our senior staff is making sure that all employees are aware of the resources available to help them deal with the stress."

The Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating the circumstances of the injury and the employee’s name is being withheld.
