The Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) is still investigating a blaze at an Essa Road home in Barrie, which occurred on March 6.

A fire at an Essa Road home in Barrie last week remains under investigation.

The province's Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) says it has no answers yet, and continues its investigation into the cause, origin and circumstances around a blaze that broke out at an Essa Road home last Wednesday.

OFM officials attended the scene and completed their on-site examination of the destroyed home on March 7.

“As the investigation is ongoing, any findings of cause would be premature at this stage,” OFM spokesperson Sean Driscoll told BarrieToday on Monday afternoon.

Fire crews were notified shortly after midnight on March 6 about a residential blaze on Essa Road, between Innisfil Street and Anne Street South.

Barrie Fire and Emergency Service dispatched five of its trucks to the scene.

Crews battled the flames for around three hours before bringing the blaze under control.

There was no word on a damage estimate.

There were no injuries reported.
