Structure fire at Splash Canyon

SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP - At 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016, Springwater Fire and Emergency Services responded to a reported structure fire at Splash Canyon Water Park on Nursery Road.

Stations from Midhurst and Minesing responded to the fire and upon arrival found the vacant building fully involved.

Additional tankers were requested from Hillsdale and Elmvale to assist with water.

"A total of 20 firefighters were on scene and crews did a great job of knocking down the fire quickly and bringing it under control within 30 minutes," says Jeff French, interim deputy fire chief of Springwater Fire and Emergency Services.

The fire was deemed suspicious, and the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office (OFM) was called in to investigate.
